Brewing Philosophy

“We firmly believe if you aren’t having fun at work, or life in general, you should probably be doing something else. When it comes to making beer, we’re having a blast and just trying not to suck.”

When we brainstorm ideas for a new beer, our top priorities are to make the best beer we possibly can and to have fun doing so. If you’re enjoying our beer and you giggle from reading the label, our job is complete.

You may be asking yourself, “What is a Barrel Brother? What does that name even mean?” Simply explained, two brothers (in-law) had a common goal of brewing barrels of beer for the world to enjoy.

A Hint of Sarcasm

One of the first beers we ever made was the Dark Sarcasm Porter. This beer set the tone (in many ways) for the trajectory of our brand. The beer is solid, it has a great name/reference, and it has the perfect amount of actual sarcasm and humor—a recipe we strive for to this day.

It’s pretty clear that we like to add all sorts of pop culture references to our beer names, labels and marketing materials. This is how we have fun.

Barrel Aged Sour Program

We believe our sour program is up there with the best in the industry. All of our sours are aged for no less than a year and the combination of tartness, complexity, and smoothness in each sour ale is a testament to our deep understanding of the barrel aging process.

We are always fermenting two types of sour bases at all times: blonde and brown.

The blonde sour ales we produce are normally light, tart and fruity, such as The Snozberries Taste Like Snozberries.

The dark fruits are reserved for our brown sour ale, most notably Leatherbound Books, which has chapters of complexity.

Pictured to the left is Marmalade, a masterful blend of both our blonde and brown sour ales with aged with hundreds of pounds of apricots.

The Almighty GoLo

What sets our NA Beers and RTD (Ready-To-Drink) Canned Cocktails apart from most other breweries in each segment of the market is our in-house dealcoholization unit, which is called a GoLo (pictured).

GoLo technology offers alcohol reduction, flavor recovery, and by-product alcohol rectification in one go. We use this impressive piece of machinery to produce our out-of-this-world Non-Alcoholic beers, cocktails & spirits, and we’re pretty proud of it.

If you’d like to learn a little bit more about the GoLo and our synergistic process for turning alcoholic beer into NA beer, which turns into high-quality spirits for our canned cocktails, click that link below!

You may have heard about our canned cocktails already, but if you haven’t, we’ve got some super interesting facts about the process behind how we make our impeccably clean double-distilled spirits in-house.
